What Is Your Skintype?

Not sure what kind of skin you have? Try washing your face and waiting an hour (without touching your face!) After the hour is up, blot your face with a tissue.

Note how your face feels and looks. Is there excess oil on the tissue? Is there only excess oil on certain parts of your face? Does your skin feel tight and itchy? Below are the descriptions of each skin type that your skin could fall under.
  • Dry: lacking in oil aka sebum. Usually genetic or as a result of environmental factors or medications. Your skin may feel tight or show flakes of dead skin.
  • Oily: excessive production of sebum, resulting in large pores, sebaceous filaments, blackheads, and acne. A person with oily skin is also known to have "shiny" skin.
  • Combination: a combination of oily and dry on different areas of the skin. Usually the person has an oily T zone and have dry skin elsewhere.
  • Normal: balanced. Usually feels soft and supple. If you have this type of skin, consider yourself lucky!
Now that you've taken the first steps into finding your skin type, you can begin to build a routine around it. Exciting stuff!

*Note- your skin type may change with the seasons or as you get older so it is important to always asses the state that your skin is in and adjust your routine accordingly.
